This year is the 18th annual performance of Ahavah: The Story of Christmas! Previously, this show had been running on the Connecticut shoreline from 2005-2019. In 2021, Ekklesia brought the Ahavah production to Middletown for the first time. Over the past eight years, proceeds from the Ahavah production have allowed Ekklesia to donate over $40,000 to local soup kitchens. All of the profits from this year’s show will be donated to St. Vincent de Paul of Middletown. The word Ahavah means “love” in the Hebrew language. The Ahavah production uses world-class dancing, acting, music, and projections to tell a Christmas story. A young girl rescues a magical book which takes her on a remarkable adventure traveling back in time. She witnesses meaningful moments in history including the birth of Christ, which helps her find the courage to choose wonder, empathy, and love in her present day life. This sensational show is a sure way to kickstart the Christmas spirit of compassion and love for all. The entire family will be exhilarated and inspired by this moving and engaging story! Ahavah is a delight for the whole family. The joy and enchantment of the season are palpable in this timeless story. Ekklesia Contemporary Ballet and Ekklesia School of Ballet join together once more to present Ahavah.
