Join Kimberly Hamlin, associate professor of History and American Studies at Miami University, for a Women’s History Month presentation on the extraordinary life of suffragist, lecturer and author Helen Hamilton Gardener, “the Harriet Beecher Stowe of fallen women.” Drawing from research from her forthcoming biography, Dr. Hamlin explores the scandals surrounding Gardener’s personal life, her campaigns to raise the age of sexual consent for girls (from 12 or younger) and her vital role in persuading President Woodrow Wilson to support the 19th Amendment. Sponsored by Miami University’s Department of Languages, Literatures, and Writing. Free event. RSVP encouraged: MiamiOH.edu/Regionals/RSVP
